Daniel S. Jahnsen, Esq.
Daniel S. Jahnsen, Esq.

“Cum Laude” and “With Honors” were two terms not associated with the graduation of Daniel S. Jahnsen from Seton Hall University, University of London Imperial College and Seton Hall School of Law. His scholastic motto of “why peak in law school?” proved prophetic as Mr. Jahnsen cultivated his expertise in the one aspect of practice never taught in class: “How to Try A Lawsuit.”  He honed his skills during thousands of hours on his feet, through nearly 200 trials, in every county of the state except, for whatever reason, Somerset.   In addition to trials, Mr. Jahnsen also participated in Appellate work (which is a nice way of saying he’s lost a case or two) and is often heard to complain:  “As Senior Partner, I should be able to pick the cases I want to try as opposed to having the cases I have to try pick me!” As a result, he participated in several landmark Appellate Division and Supreme Court cases on issues ranging from Trial Practice, Evidence, Insurance, Negligence and Constitutional Law. His trial experience includes Professional Negligence, Insurance and Reinsurance issues, Attorney and Medical Malpractice, Hospital Liability, Municipal and Governmental liability, Negligent Security, Disability, Premises Liability, Dram Shop, and General Negligence cases before juries in every county in New Jersey.  As a successful trial lawyer, he has the unique ability to effectuate settlements or negotiate innovative high-low agreements in matters otherwise involving potential for excess exposure. He presented seminars to many insurance carriers on issues of law and trial strategy and provided training to claims staffs across the country. He was a guest lecturer at New York University and at Lloyd’s of London. He is a member of the North American Surplus Lines Association, Professional Lines Underwriting Society, American Bar Association and Defense Research Institute. He also served as Associate Director of the New Jersey Surplus Lines Association.

Terrence J. Bolan, Esq.
Terrence J. Bolan, Esq.

Terrence J. Bolan is a cum laude and distinguished military graduate of Wake Forest University with a B.A. in Psychology. He obtained his Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law. Mr. Bolan has tried upwards of 150 cases to verdict and is recognized by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney. Beyond his extensive medical malpractice and dram shop trial experience, he has also tried a number of complex cases involving products liability, premises liability, employment discrimination and some other really boring stuff.

Speaking of boring stuff, Mr. Bolan also lectures a lot on issues such as Indemnification, Additional Insured Endorsements and N.J. PIP (fascinating, isn’t he).  Mr. Bolan is admitted to New Jersey State Bar, Federal District Court of New Jersey, Third Circuit Court of Appeals, United States Supreme Court and most recently the Florida State Bar (As the oldest member of the firm he is thinking about starting an office down there with all the other old geezers).

Thomas M. Reardon III, Esq.
Thomas M. Reardon III, Esq.

Prior to college, Thomas M. Reardon III was a highly sought after baseball player who went on to great success at Fairfield University.  After being told, in clear and no uncertain terms, that he lacked Major League talent, Tom embarked on a career at the New York Stock Exchange, where he received constant encouragement to attend law school.  He received his JD, cum laude, from the University of Dayton School of Law, where he was a member of the Dayton Law Review.  His legal experience, before joining the firm, concentrated in areas of medical malpractice and insurance defense.  He also clerked for the Presiding Civil Judge in Middlesex County after graduation from law school. Prior to the formation of these offices, Mr. Reardon worked with Dan Jahnsen at a firm which specialized in Medical Malpractice and also played softball against Terry Bolan in the Monmouth County Lawyer’s League. He was the first attorney recruited to join the firm.  He is a member of the New York and New Jersey Bar and has considerable trial experience in multiple disciplines with nearly 75 jury verdicts and is recognized by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney.

L. Patrick Dacey, Esq.
L. Patrick Dacey, Esq.L. Patrick Dacey is a cum laude graduate of North Carolina State University, receiving his JD from Seton Hall University School of Law.  Mr. Dacey also studied international law at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland.  Aside from the law, Pat’s passion is for surfing. Believe it or not, Pat is one of those fanatics who support the year-round tourist industry by floating in a wet suit during winter months, catching the occasional wave or serving as a “between seals intermezzo” to the rogue Great White.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Dacey was associated with a prominent litigation firm engaged in the defense of personal injury and toxic tort cases, but was located, unfortunately, too close to the beach. Since coming aboard, Pat developed a true expertise as a trial lawyer. His primary areas of practice include the defense of premises liability, dram shop, negligent security, automotive and environmental claims. He is an established trial talent with more than 50 verdicts and is engaged in extensive Superior Court and Appellate Division advocacy.  Mr. Dacey is also recognized by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney.

Thomas R. Walters, Esq.
Thomas R. Walters, Esq.

If not for the constant cries of “Stick with your day job!” and “Up in front!”  we might never have come to know the legal talent of Thomas R. Walters.  A musical virtuoso with a natural voice and a face for radio, Tom ultimately succumbed to his passion for law by enrolling in and graduating with Honors from the University of Scranton.  He next worked his way through the Seton Hall University School of Law, where he was Associate Editor of the Law Review while clerking at a prominent North Jersey firm.   It was at that firm where he first encountered Dan Jahnsen.  So impressed was Dan with Tom’s intellect and work ethic, it became at a top priority to recruit Tom when we opened our doors in 1996.* Tom is a seasoned trial attorney with extensive experience in products liability, trucking liability, construction litigation, workers’ compensation, civil rights litigation, as well as premises liability and general negligence claims. His penchant is for defusing the bomb - the complex multiparty litigation, which is often reassigned here for trial.   His prior experience included a long association with a prominent defense firm as well as corporate counsel for a multi-national insurer.

*To our shock, Walters rejected the chance to join us on the ground floor suggesting instead that we reach out to him once we became a bit more established (note : the absence of any mention  of this episode in his firm bio might suggest  the slight has long been forgotten).

Vicki Shea-Connolly, Esq.
Vicki Shea-Connolly, Esq.

Vicki Shea Connolly is a cum laude graduate of the Catholic University of America.  She received her JD from University of Denver College of Law where, in all likelihood, she was cum laude too, but chose not to disclose this in her interview here, sensing Jahnsen’s increasing frustration with the academic superiority of every attorney in the firm.  Following law school, Ms. Connolly somehow survived a one-year clerkship with the Honorable Alexander Lehrer, a brilliant jurist if there ever was one, but widely known to have a temper which rises in inverse proportion to the descending IQs of those who appear before him. For those unfamiliar, trying a case on the odd side of Judge Lehrer is somewhat akin to going down in a plane crash …and surviving.*  After working with Pat Dacey in a prior incarnation, she was recruited by us based on Pat’s appreciation that she could bring skills to the table which the firm sorely lacked. Ms. Connolly is possessed of superior analytical skills, organizational skills, people skills, and knowledge of the law.  Her extensive experience includes handling matters of Professional Negligence, Products Liability, General Negligence and Premises Liability.

*Subsequent to Ms. Connolly’s clerkship, Judge Lehrer was transferred to the Chancery Division of the Superior Court.  Given that we do not practice in the Chancery Division,, we are less constrained in our commentary.

Rachel C. Fromm, Esq.
Rachel C. Fromm, Esq.

Rachel C. Fromm is a graduate of Rutgers University and obtained her JD from the New England School of Law. She arrived at the firm shortly after Ms. Connolly, in response to Mr. Bolan’s declaration: “There can’t be two people like that!”  This was proven erroneous when we were subsequently, and fortuitously, directed to Rachel.   Ms. Fromm’s prior experience included tenure as a trial attorney for CNA Insurance Co.   Ms. Fromm possesses superior analytical and organizational skills which have repeatedly proven to be an invaluable asset in handling complex multi-party litigation.  She also developed a plaintiff’s insight on the litigation process while working for a respected plaintiff’s firm, where she gained extensive experience handling tort litigation and workers’ compensation claims.

Erik Anderson, Esq.
Erik Anderson, Esq.

Erik Anderson graduated from the Catholic University of America with a B.A. in Politics and Honors degree in Environmental Studies. He received his Juris Doctor from Rutgers School of Law and graduated cum laude from Vermont Law School with a Masters of Studies in Environmental Law. Prior to joining Bolan Jahnsen  Reardon, Mr. Anderson interned in the White House and worked in the United States House of Representatives. Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Anderson worked for a law firm specializing in civil rights litigation, employment discrimination, municipal and governmental liability and labor law.

Currently, Mr. Anderson’s practice focuses on complex litigation including errors and omissions claims and coverage issues. Erik has tried a number of cases to verdict and argued before the Appellate Division. He is, by his own admission, and reluctantly ours too, the smartest guy in the office.

Admitted to New Jersey State Bar, Federal District Court of New Jersey, Third Circuit Court of Appeals, Florida State Bar, Federal District Court of Florida, Southern District and Federal District Court of Florida, Northern District.

Elizabeth A. Wilson, Esq.
Elizabeth A. Wilson, Esq.

Elizabeth Wilson is the brainiac responsible for majority of legal research and the bulwark of our appellate practice. Beth is also the only attorney at the firm who can actually sit completely still for prolonged periods of time.  Her work product of briefs and coverage opinions convey a superior understanding of issues involving insurance and civil practice in the courts of New Jersey. She received a JD from Rutgers University School of Law in 1991 and clerked for the Honorable Burton Fundler and the Honorable Ira E. Kreitzman upon her graduation.  For the decade prior to joining our ranks in early 2002, she was affiliated with two of the premier medical malpractice firms in New Jersey.  She is thoroughly versed in all aspects of the evidential, procedural and legal issues affecting trial practice.

Judy Taboada, Esq.
Judy Taboada, Esq.

Judy Taboada received her JD from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2003.  During law school, Ms. Taboada served as a research assistant to Professor Mark Alexander, where she researched the constitutional implications of regulating internet content.  Notably, the products of her research were incorporated into an article published by Harvard’s Journal of Law & Public Policy.  Following law school, Ms. Taboada served a one year clerkship with the Honorable Peter E. Doyne, Presiding Civil Judge of Bergen County.  Since joining the firm in 2004, Judy has worked closely with both Mr. Jahnsen and Mr. Bolan on a myriad of cases including Agents E&O and insurance coverage issues.  She is licensed to practice law in New Jersey and New York.

Leonid Kushnir, Esq.

Leonid Kushnir graduated from Baruch College with a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in English.  He received his Juris Doctor from City University of New York School of Law and served as mediator for the EEOC and the New York Division of Human Rights prior to completing law school.

Lenny joined Bolan Jahnsen Reardon in 2005. Since then, he has tried several cases to verdict and has argued before the Appellate Division. (Lenny spent the first 11 years of his life in the Ukraine.  Although soft spoken and cerebral, know that he is still a Cossack at heart.)

Admitted to the New Jersey State Bar, Federal District Court of New Jersey and New York State Bar.

John Evans, Esq.
John Evans, Esq.

After receiving his degree in economics from the prestigious Pennsylvania State University, John Evans embarked upon the downward spiral which would ultimately bring him to our level.  During a stint as a car salesman fresh out of college,  John first learned that being named to the Atlantic Ten All-Conference Track Team doesn’t necessarily mean you can outrun a disgruntled consumer.  Seeking a safer career course, without necessarily assuming any greater credibility in the eyes of the average American, John attended Widener University School of Law where he received his J.D.  Mr. Evans has represented various insurance companies and self-insureds in the defense of general and liquor liability claims. Having crossed paths with members of this firm in court, and being held in high regard by our mutual clients, John became the obvious choice to lead our expansion into Eastern Pennsylvania and fortify our presence in southern New Jersey venues. He has tried several cases to verdict in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey and argued at the appellate level in each state.  John’s experience was gained over the past fifteen years by working at leading insurance defense firms in Pennsylvania, as well as serving as in-house counsel for Nationwide Insurance Company.

Rachel DeAlto, Esq.
Rachel DeAlto, Esq.Rachel DeAlto graduated from Syracuse University with a B.S. in Advertising (isn’t that redundant) and a minor in Political Science. After spending a couple of years in advertising, Rachel decided to use her B.S. in a different field and attended Seton Hall Law School, where she was a Presidential Scholar.

Upon her completion of law school, Ms. DeAlto completed a clerkship with the Honorable Jamie Perri, J.S.C. Much to our surprise, Judge Perri recommended that Rachel join our firm.

Admitted to the New Jersey State Bar and Federal District Court of New Jersey.

Flora Itskovich, Esq.
Flora Itskovich, Esq.Flora Itskovich graduated from Stony Brook University with a B.A. in Political Science and a minor in Economics. She received her Juris Doctor from Touro Law School. Flora will work predominantly in our New York office and since Flora is the first graduate of the Bolan Jahnsen Reardon clerkship program, we expect great things from her.

Flora, too, was born in the Ukraine, moving to the United States at age 9. Not coincidentally, she is Lenny’s first cousin (we now need a nepotism policy).

Admitted to the New Jersey State Bar, Federal District Court of New Jersey and New York State Bar.
